The Socratic Approach to Tutoring

The Socratic Approach to TutoringThe Socratic Approach to Tutoring is based on the practice of disciplined and professional teaching methods. It is concerned with a narrow area of theory that only seeks to explain what is happening in a text, on the page, and in the classroom. This theory is intended to guide teachers and to help them develop and apply their teaching methods in the appropriate way. This approach is aimed at providing teachers with a wide scope of choices for teaching students, in a way that will be consistent with the principles it espouses. These principles are structured and clear, and have a number of important aims. The main aim of the Socratic Approach to Tutoring is to help teachers effectively use methods of information teaching in all contexts. The Socratic Approach to Tutoring is considered by many to be an excellent tool for the study of higher education, as well as for advanced distance learning courses. This approach is characterized by its emphasis on the building of relationships, its influence on both self-criticism and self-support, and its application to varying contextual situations. These factors make it ideal for any teacher wishing to get more out of his or her teaching experience. All these points suggest that the Socratic Approach to Tutoring is built on the organizational style that teachers can use for the creation of a support network. In other words, the organizational culture that teachers come to embrace will help them create a platform for effective communication between them and their students. The Socratic Approach to Tutoring can be practiced within any classroom. The Socratic Approach is also quite flexible, so that it can be used in the study of different cultural contexts, such as an MBA or MA course. The Socratically Oriented Methodology of Tutoring is basically concerned with helping teachers to be better teachers. What makes it particularly effective is that it emphasizes the developmental value of the student , and the need for teaching teachers to assist students in realizing their full potential. It also fosters a professional environment that encourages informed discussions and collaborative work among teachers and students. It has emerged as one of the most innovative areas of academic instruction, especially in fields like Mathematics, English, and Comparative Literature. It has been cited as an effective method for teaching Mathematics by educators such as Donna Jardine, Andrew Harrison, and James Chudleigh. It has also been promoted by those who offer advanced distance learning courses in Management, Psychology, and Leadership. One of the things that set the Socratic Approach apart from other styles of instruction is the emphasis on the building of relationships that are based on mutual respect. Teachers are taught to respect their students' opinions, so that they are able to impart and respond to knowledge in an effective and productive manner. In this way, the instructor becomes a n active member of the learning community and not just an objective observer. This style of instruction is quite unusual in today's most popular classrooms. It is a very effective pedagogy, but has also proven to be highly effective in adapting to changing and emerging student cultures. It is a teaching tool that is easy to implement and adapt, which provides a valuable service to every classroom.

Irvine ACT Tutor Tips New PreACT Test Announced

Irvine ACT Tutor Tips New PreACT Test Announced Tips from a Private Irvine ACT Tutor: New PreACT Test Announced Tips from a Private Irvine ACT Tutor: New PreACT Test Announced The makers of the ACT have announced that there will now be a pre-testing system available to 10th graders. Many students take the ACT in the 11th grade only to find that they werent prepared and have not achieved the score they need to apply to their dream school its never too early to book your private Irvine ACT tutor from TutorNerds. There is now a PreACT that is administered a year earlier, allowing students to change their study habits and focus with enough time to meet their collegiate goals. Additionally, Educators have been told that the PreACT is shorter than the ACT, so students dont have to spend an entire day in the testing room. So what does this mean for current high school students and their parents? 1. Planning ahead Although many students and parents feel there are already enough standardized exams, taking a shortened version of the ACT designed for a 10th grader can help families plan ahead. 10th grade is a transitional year where students will have to begin to pick an academic path even though they are still an underclassman. If a student does well on the exam, its a nice breather for them. Additionally, their parents should know that things are going well, and the student is reaching their target. On the other hand, a student who performs poorly on the test, either due to lack of knowledge or lack of study habits, will have plenty of time to make some changes before college applications (READ: 5 things to do over spring break with no hassle). 2. Picking the right exam Students have the option to choose between the ACT, SAT, or both. Although a few universities do have a preference, at this point its mostly up to the student. Now that the PreACT is available, students will be able to make their choice earlier and get an idea about which test best aligns with their skill set. More test prep options equate to more flexibility when applying to college and allows students to fit the test to their talents and experience. 3. Focusing on improvement The 10th grade is a transitional time where many students are dealing with growing up, meeting academic benchmarks, and socialization. The first two years of high school are pretty overwhelming, and many students start to get really it together academically when they are already well into their college prep years. If students know that, for example, they are on target with math but need a lot of help with their reading comprehension skills, they have plenty of time to focus on those elements before sending out college applications (READ: ACT Tips From a Private Irvine Tutor). 4. Identifying a natural skill set Most students have a talent in either math or English.   A few are talented in both. Its a good idea to identify where a students natural skills are because they may have changed since elementary and middle school. Some kids who loved to read when they were eight will struggle with it when they start reading complex novels and texts. Others may have superior math skills up to a point and then need a little bit of extra help. Pre-tests can help students identify and work on these issues. 5. College prep and applications The 11th and 12th grades now essentially serve as the college prep years. Students decide before they enter the 11th grade if they will be taking AP courses, and start thinking about what universities they are interested in. One of the elements of college prep, in general, is to learn how to take standardized exams successfully. This means learning test prep in addition to understanding the actual material. Pre-testing allows students to have this information a year earlier. Score high on the ACT with the help of an Irvine private ACT tutor! Call us today for more information. Discount Tutor Shack Promotions

Discount Tutor Shack PromotionsTutor Shack and other unique toy shops have been around for decades in the USA. The business started off selling blank coloring pages as a means of teaching children how to color. Some would use the pages to learn different colors that they might not have seen before. These small stores were often around early on in the color wars between the popular kids colors red and blue. Some used this as a way to give kids the perfect incentive to try to sell their color. It was something they could do to earn a little extra money, even though they had nothing to color!More recently, the business has become a place for the trusted color names to do some marketing. These toy stores are known to sponsor a particular type of sports event or special event. They will offer special toys for the sports fan. Some of these come with a player named after the store. For example, if you were buying some specially made teddy bears for your child for Christmas, a small part of th e sale would be getting the same toy from this particular store. Other promotions are toys of good luck, prizes or even their signature gumball machines. These are events that are quite rare but could happen if they feel they can give you an advantage. If you're thinking about trying to get your business at Tutor Shack, be sure to find out whether there are any special events they will be sponsoring. Then just ask if you can use their space for your business promotion.Although you'll probably have to pay for this as this is considered as a special event, you'll be able to advertise your business more effectively than you could on your own. Just make sure you've got a good eye for what kind of events will work best for your business and make sure they will be invited to the events that Tutor Shack has gone on. Solve Radical Equations

Solve Radical Equations The meaning for the word radical is root. Radical equations is an equations which can contain constants, variables and radical included in them. Radicals can be simplified and solved. There are different mathematical operations that can be used to simplify and solve questions related to radicals. Two radicals can be added or subtracted if they have the same number or expression in the root, this makes them similar radicals to carry mathematical operations. Example 1: Simplify and find the answer for the given question52x + 22x 42x? Solution: The given question is on adding and subtracting radicals. This question contains the adding and subtracting the similar radical terms containing 2 with variable x. The first step of the question is solving for 5 2x + 2 2x = 7 2x Now subtract 4 2x from the earlier answer 7 2x. This makes 7 2x 42x = 3 2x Therefore simplifying the radicals gives 5 2 x + 2 2x 42x = 3 2x Hence solution = 32x. Example 2: Simplify find the answer for the given question 65x + 45x 105x? Solution: The given question is on adding and subtracting radicals. This question contains the adding and subtracting the similar radical terms containing 5 with variable x. The first step of the question is solving for 65x + 45x = 105x Now subtract 105x from the earlier answer 105x This makes 105x 105x = 0. Therefore simplifying the radicals gives 65x + 45x 105x = 0. Hence solution = 0.

Special Triangles

Special Triangles In Geometry, there are two special triangles. The special triangles are the triangles in which the angles are either 30-60-90 or 45-45-90. The triangles forming these angles are called special triangles because when their values are calculated using the six trigonometric functions, then exact values are produced instead of decimal numbers. Therefore using any of these angles and the length of any one side of the triangle, the lengths of other sides can be easily calculated using basic trigonometric functions such as sine, cosine or tan of the special angles. Example 1: The side AC is the hypotenuse in the right triangle ABC. If the hypotenuse of this triangle is 4cm, then what is the measure of side BC if the measure of angle C is 60? Here triangle ABC is a special triangle because one of its angle measures 60 which implies that the angles of this triangle are in the form of 30-60-90. The trigonometric function, cos(C) = (adjacent side)/ (hypotenuse) = BC/AC This gives: cos(60)= BC/ 4== 1/2= BC/ 4== BC= 4 * 1/2 Therefore the measure of the side, BC= 2cm Example 2: The side PR is the hypotenuse in the right triangle PQR. If the measure of side PQ is 9cm, then what is the measure of the side QR if measure of angle R is 45? Here triangle PQR is a special triangle because one of its angle measures 45 which implies that the angles of this triangle are in the form of 45-45-90. The trigonometric function, tan(R) = (opposite side)/ (adjacent side) = PQ/QR This gives: tan(45)= 9/ QR== 1= 9/ QR== QR= 1* 9 Therefore the measure of the side, QR= 9cm
